U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission issues advisory for virtual currency derivatives


On May 21, 2018, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) issued a joint staff advisory giving guidance to exchanges and clearinghouses registered with the CFTC for listing virtual currency derivative products.

In this report the advisory highlights five key areas for exchanges and clearinghouses to consider when listing new virtual currency derivative contracts:
